Contrary to the classic solitaire, here you can move any card or group of cards in the tableau as long as they form a sequence in descending order by suit. It introduces the challenge of managing longer sequences.

Scorpion Solitaire Rules

Learn the basics of Scorpion Solitaire:

Objective

The goal of Scorpion Solitaire is to form four complete sequences of cards, each running from King to Ace within the tableau. Unlike many other solitaire varieties, there are no foundation piles—everything happens directly in the tableau. It means you need to plan your moves even more carefully and work on the best strategy.

Setup

Scorpion Solitaire is played with a standard 52-card deck on seven tableau columns. The first four columns contain seven cards each, with the top three cards face-up and the four underneath face-down.

In the remaining three columns, there are seven face-up cards. There is no stockpile or draw pile in this game, so the cards you see are all you can work with.

Rules

You can move any card or group of cards within the tableau as long as they are in descending order and of the same suit. For example, you can move a sequence like 9, 8, 7 of hearts onto a 10 of hearts.
Only Kings or sequences that start with a King can be moved to an empty column.
Once you complete a sequence from King to Ace, it remains in place within the tableau, and that part of the game is finished.
The objective is to organize all cards into these four sequences, with no cards left out.

Strategies

Reveal Face-Down Cards Early: Prioritize moves that reveal face-down cards, as this opens up more possibilities for creating sequences and organizing your tableau.
Plan Your Moves Carefully: Think several steps ahead when moving cards, especially when deciding whether to break up a sequence or fill an empty column. A well-planned move can give you more opportunities, while a rushed one can limit your options and make your progress more difficult or even impossible.
Use Empty Columns Wisely: Use empty columns to temporarily hold cards or sequences that you need to rearrange. Since only Kings can fill empty spaces, be careful not to create empty columns too soon.
Focus on Suit Sequences: Since you can only move cards of the same suit in descending order, try to keep them grouped by suit as much as possible. This will make it easier for you to build complete sequences as the game progresses.
Avoid Blocking Moves: Be cautious when placing cards in the tableau and avoid moves that could block important cards or sequences (especially those involving face-down cards).

In this game, all cards are dealt face-up, and you can move groups of them regardless of their order as long as the top one in the sequence forms a descending sequence in different colors.

This flexibility makes Yukon a bit more forgiving, but the gameplay still focuses on careful planning and strategic thinking.

Spider Solitaire

Spider Solitaire is another popular game similar to Scorpion Solitaire, particularly in its use of multiple sequences within the tableau. Played with two decks, the goal is to create complete sequences from King to Ace within the tableau.

Unlike Scorpion, Spider allows you to move sequences regardless of suit, but the use of two decks and the need to complete multiple sequences make it a challenging but really rewarding game.
